I know how frustrating it feels when Facebook goes and changes everything. You get all confused and can’t find or do things like you used to. I don’t want anyone to feel like that about the new blog design. This blog turned one. Today actually. Happy Blogiversary to us . We will be celebrating this week with some cool giveaways so be sure to stick around. Today’s post is all about getting you familiar with the new blog design.
The landing page is where anyone will come when they hit home, the Balancing Home logo at the top of the page or just type in www.balancinghome.com
If you click on any of the latest projects it will take you to a full blog post.
If you are looking for the good old fashioned blog, you can find it by clicking on BLOG in the toolbar
The blog page will be in chronological order, newest to oldest. Each post will have a title, thumbnail, and excerpt.
If you choose to pull up posts via category or archives (both are options on the landing page and sidebar)…
You will get page with blog post excerpts.
The toolbar has an ABOUT section with a drop down menu.
There is also a drop down menu on the HOME TOUR tab and PRINT SHOP tab.
All of the pages, except for the landing page and project gallery have a sidebar.
The sponsor page can be found in the ABOUT tab drop down menu or the “Advertise Here” button found on the sidebar and the landing page. Ads can now be bought directly on this page. A discount code can be found on my Facebook page, if you are interested.
My favorite part of the new blog layout (aside from the slider) is the project gallery. The gallery is arranged by category and includes thumbnails you can click on to go directly to the post. At the end of each category there is a “click to see more from the category” link. If you are new around here, this might be a good place to start.
Hopefully this helps you all feel a little more familiar with the blog. I have to do a shout out to Restored 316 Design. I purchased a theme from them and customized it. When I got stuck on a few things, I emailed her and she helped me out big time. That was way above the call of duty. I am super appreciative. If you are looking for a theme or a custom site design I highly recommend them. In fact, my last theme was theirs too. I didn’t even realize I had chosen their theme twice. Clearly, I dig their style.
The blog is one. That is insane. You guys rock. I am sure a mushy post about how much I love you is in the near future.
What do you think of the new look? Did this help y’all out? Anyone have a special post request now that we are one? Maybe a Q&A? A day in the life? Spill!
P.S. Don’t forget to checkout the giveaways I have lined up for this week.
