Big Girl Room Reading Nook and Cutting Edge Stencil Giveaway

I am so flipping excited to show you Eleanor’s reading nook. Last week I shared a mood board, AKA- my plan for her reading nook.

The Cutting Edge Stencil- Herringbone Allover is the key piece to this reading nook. It defines the space and is that little extra something special.

And because EVERYONE loves a good before.

I absolutely love, love, love how it turned out. I cannot wait for little E to see it. She is going to love hiding away in there and looking at her books.

There is a cushion and some pillows tucked in there. The letter pillow matches her drapes and I made it (click here to see how). I literally could stare at this space all day.

Doesn’t that stencil just make it a moment? Eek.

I used Benjamin Moore paint in Wild Aster and the Cutting Edge Stencil Herringbone Allover. For those of you interested in the whole stenciling process, check out this video.

I made the letters from the crafty cardboard ones and covered them in paper I found at World Market with the same pattern as her drapes. The bookshelves are gutters.

Eleanor’s big girl room is coming together nicely. Next up we will be talking carpet squares. I know…exciting, right? If it all comes together as nicely as this stenciled reading nook, I will be one happy momma! You can check out her big brother’s room reveal here.

Love the Nagoya All Over…the birch tree is a runner up. The reading Nook looks great! You’ll find that she looks through her books more often-at least that’s what we found when we put up rain gutter shelves in our sons’ room.

Evie- The gutters are literally gutters from Home Depot. Just cut them down to the size you want and add the endcaps (sold by gutters). We drill right through the gutters to attach them to the wall, but you can buy gutter hangers (just more money). My inspiration curtains for her room are from World Market, but the curtain hanging on her reading nook is actually a shower curtain (on sale) from Urban Outfitters. Hope that helps.

Might I ask if you had the cutters cut to size? Can you do that at a hardware store? I have been planning the same thing in my son’s room, and it’s all finished but the shelves! p.s. the herringbone is my fave!

We didn’t have them cut to size, but I’m sure a place like Home Depot or Lowes would go it for you. If you are using end caps, make sure you take them into account when measuring/cutting. We used a miter saw (chop saw). Best of luck!
