How awesome is it that you just found me? Let’s get familiar. I’m Megan. I am 29, unless you are reading this after January 19 2013, in which case I am now 30 or older and will no longer be updating my age. I think I am funny. Perception is reality, right?
I grew up in a family of 6 (Mom, Dad and 4 kiddos). I am a twin and often refer to my brother as my womb-mate. We are one hot family.
Clearly. Product of the 80′s. It got better, I swear.
In high school I was kind of hard core.
Or not. Probably more not. I played soccer, ran cross country and track and even did a year on the dance team. I was once escorted out of a high school basketball game by a police officer (more on that here).
I am a Mad Grad (University of Wisconsin-Madison) and that is where I met my husband. I double majored in elementary education and English and husband was an art (emphasis in graphic design) major. We married in 2006.
And lived happily ever after. Mostly. I mean, except when we aren’t, which happens. But mostly all happy. My husband is the Director of Design, Digital Media and Branding and I was a teacher until I decided to stay at home with my little munchkins in May of 2011. We bought a house in SE Wisconsin (which we talk about a lot here) and popped out some kids (we talk about them a lot too) and then I got this crazy idea to start a blog. Why not?
Blog friends meet the offspring, offspring meet the blog friends.
Offspring have been named: Quinn (Oct. ’06) and Eleanor (May ’11). More offspring are planned for the future….I dunno, 3? 4? Make that three, since we are now expecting April of 2013. They are completely awesome little human beings. Life with them is always an adventure and they literally make everything.worth.it.
Some very important things you must know. I love polka dots, bows and changing things up. I am a magazine junkie. I love coffee. My sister and I have been known to try to recreate the final dance in Center Stage. Our go-to move, the broom. If you haven’t seen it, rent it. If you know what I am talking about, Holla! We are going to be bff’s fo’ sho. I dream of owning a mini-van. Seriously. I think family is the foundation for everything in life. I am crazy in love with the family I am making and the family I was raised in.
I need to be in pretty spaces. Seriously! Like have.to.be. In fifth grade my dad asked me if I ever day dreamed. My answer was “Yes, I think about how I would rearrange the classroom and organize it and decorate it”. I guess I was always destined to be a teacher turned blogger of home/decor/diy/craft/stuff.
The hubs and I also run an Etsy shop: Balancing Home Print Shop. I am a backseat designer and leverage his design skills to create whatever I have dreamed up. He is very patient with me.
So this whole blogging thing is way better than I ever imagined. It is also way more work then I ever thought (like a-lot-of-work). I love the awesome community I have found through blogging. I get all kinds of giddy, I like to call it a blogger’s high, when I get comments. My stats are kind of like the scale. I totally know they don’t define me or my blog, but they totally make or break me. I read each and every comment.
So what is everyone doing hanging around here anyways? Umm…all sorts of amazing reasons, no doubt!
